Sophia O’Shaughnessy

Hi, my name is Sophia. I’m a mom to 2 boys, birth and postpartum doula, and lactation counselor.

I believe that every family deserves to have a fulfilling birth experience that they can cherish forever. I have become an enthusiastic advocate for families to make informed choices through the provision of evidence-based information. I believe that this is the foundation for families to be able to feel good about their birth choices.

Realizing that there is an enormous gap in care during the early postpartum period, I have become especially passionate about supporting and nurturing families during their transition to parenthood or as their family grows. I love encouraging new parents to follow their instincts as they get to know their new baby.

Emma Garland

I’m a parent, a birth doula, and an Integrative Lactation and Feeding Specialist. I don’t yet speak Spanish, but I’m conversational in French.

I came to doula work through my longtime practice of Rolfing Structural Integration, a holistic form of myofascial alignment. I have always loved helping people to integrate the physical changes of pregnancy and birth. I am fascinated with how bodily histories, traumas, and sensory patterns can ripple out into the childbearing year. There is great opportunity for healing and empowerment in the process of gestating a child.

I know that kind, steady, and intelligent birth support can change how we experience and remember our births. Whether planning an unmedicated birth, considering an epidural, or giving birth by cesarean - as I did, under the watchful eye of a home birth midwife - you deserve to be heard, respected, and held compassionately. As a doula, my intention is to stand with you in your vulnerability and shine a light on your power.

Maya Hernandez

Hi, my name is Maya.  I am a mom, a holistic birth doula, and a certified lactation counselor.

My commitment to you as a doula is to guide you with compassion, warmth, and integrity in this special time, supporting your natural instincts as you prepare for your birth and life with a newborn.

I have a deep respect for the ability of women to birth intuitively when they feel safe, loved and calm. My practice combines a rational, evidenced-based approach to birthing with a holistic focus on the body-mind connection.

I am also committed to promoting mental health during the perinatal period. I am trained in Havening, which is a gentle yet powerful technique that helps improve birth outcomes, lower stress and anxiety, heal past birth trauma and increase joy during pregnancy and birth.
